and Brain Health

At the Leigh Steinberg Foundation

We are driven by a singular mission: to transform the landscape of brain health by advancing understanding, prevention, and treatment of concussions, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and other related challenges.

Vision and leadership of Leigh Steinberg

Guided by the vision and leadership of Leigh Steinberg—a trailblazer in the sports and advocacy world—we strive to build a future where individuals affected by brain injuries receive the care, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive.

Leigh Steinberg

Leigh Steinberg has a lifetime of experience advocating for the well-being of professional athletes. Throughout his career as a sports agent, he saw firsthand how traumatic brain injuries can impact the lives of players and their families even years after retirement. Decades before research laid bare the sports world’s concussion crisis, Leigh witnessed players struggling with repeated concussions while doctors could provide few answers. Leigh felt a profound call to action, and in the 1990s, he hosted a groundbreaking concussion conference, bringing together the country’s leading neurologists and issuing some of the very first guidelines for concussion reform. Years later, Leigh hosted a summit with the Concussion Institute, again bringing together leaders in the medical community, including Dr. Bennet Omalu, whose revolutionary work exposed the prevalence of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) in professional athletes. Leigh has made taking on the concussion crisis and fighting for the well-being of athletes his highest mission and uses his platform to advocate for concussion research, awareness, and reform. The Leigh Steinberg Foundation is the culmination of that mission.

Leigh Steinberg on the Value of American Football

“We believe that football plays a positive role in the lives of its participants. It teaches valuable life skills applicable to a successful future. Among those are self-discipline, patience, selflessness, teamwork, courage, the ability to process complex information in split-second situations, and the ability to perform under pressure. These skills can help athletes prepare for life’s many challenges on and off the field. The goal of the Leigh Steinberg Foundation is to make the valuable teaching tools of football safer and to emphasize the need to safeguard the long-term health of athletes.”

Our Mission

The Leigh Steinberg Foundation is dedicated to advancing the understanding, prevention, and treatment of concussions, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and other brain health challenges. Through education, research, advocacy, and access to care, we strive to create a world where individuals impacted by these conditions receive the support, treatment, and opportunities they need to lead fulfilling lives.

Our Goal

We are committed to empowering individuals, families, and communities impacted by brain injuries by y bridging the gap between awareness and action, research and real-world application.

Together,

these pillars form the foundation of our commitment to creating a world where brain health is a priority, and every individual receives the care they deserve.

Our Action Plan

Through education, collaboration, and innovation, the Leigh Steinberg Foundation is actively working to create measurable, lasting change.

Educating the Public

The Foundation spearheads dynamic awareness campaigns to inform and inspire action. Whether hosting community seminars, partnering with sports organizations, or leveraging Leigh Steinberg’s influence in the media, we’re reshaping perceptions around concussions and brain injuries.

Investing in Research

We believe that innovation is the key to progress. By funding research at leading institutions, we enable scientists to develop groundbreaking diagnostic and treatment solutions. These include advanced imaging techniques, protective gear for athletes, and long-term studies on the effects of TBIs.

Building a Network of Support

No one should navigate the challenges of brain injuries alone. Our network connects affected individuals with counseling services, treatment programs, and support groups tailored to their unique needs.

Expanding Healthcare Access

Healthcare disparities prevent many from accessing life-changing treatments. The Foundation works to eliminate these barriers by funding clinics, partnering with telehealth providers, and creating grant programs for those in need.

Advocating for Policy Change

Legislation plays a vital role in driving progress. We collaborate with lawmakers, healthcare professionals, and advocacy groups to enact policies that prioritize brain health, increase funding for research, and enforce safety regulations in sports and other industries.

Why Brain Health Matters

Brain health is at the core of who we are and how we live. For athletes, brain injuries often come as a hidden cost of their careers. For families, the effects of TBIs ripple through every aspect of life. And for society, untreated brain injuries represent an urgent public health challenge.

Our Commitment

The Leigh Steinberg Foundation is committed to addressing these challenges head-on. Inspired by Leigh Steinberg’s decades-long legacy of advocating for athlete welfare and community health, we are paving the way for a future where prevention is prioritized, treatment is accessible, and recovery is achievable for all.

Our Collaboration

By fostering collaboration, ensuring equity in care, and inspiring action, the Leigh Steinberg Foundation aims to be a driving force in improving the lives of those impacted by brain injuries and promoting long-term brain health for all.
